Original question was could you upgrade the Delstar mini-notebook.įorgive my ignorance, but it's the first time being acquainted with this 'netbook'. You may also wantto look at the TIP To make your knowledge complete
Why? I do not exactly know, but Isuspect that the WiFi driver looses it The secret is once you have entered your key and ask for themachine to synch up you have to reboot. I still do notget a connection, so I reboot the machine, and wait for about 30 seconds andthe machine synchs up because the little RED X under the icon has disappeared. Now the machine will hook to the internet as long as I want to, but sometimeswhen I turn the machine on it will not synch, so I go through the abovesequence again. I click on the name of my network again and thenhit connect., then the Wireless Network properties window opens up and I caninsert my Network Key again after I uncheck the "The key is providedautomatically" box. I then click on advance and delete my preferred network andhit OK, this will force the software to ask me for my network again, and noticethat the preferred is missing. This is a signal to me that it has lost my NetworkKey or that the softwarehas failed or both. The machine keeps trying to associate myprevious entered name site with my preferred site and tells me the signal isgood, but it cannot link up. If I then click on Wireless Information tab, the list ofavailable networks, appear in the box. That is a clueto me that the automatic sign on has not found a viable network, or needssomething else. When I try to signon with the red X showing, I get "The page cannot be displayed If I thendouble click on the icon down in the right corner I elucidated above, RT28701opens up to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) with all zeros in the IP addressfield, and Subnet Mask, with no entries in the default gateway. If this does not work at first, turn the machine over on it's backand using a toothpick, insert it into the little hole about an inch diagonallyfrom the right corner of the data plate, this will re-load a new copy ofeverything including the WiFi RT28701 driver. This"KEY" was set up when you installed the router on your servercomputer. This will allow you to type in your "NetworkKey", the password that protects your network from outsiders. Uncheck "The key is providedautomatically" box. Then another windowopens up called Network Properties. When you double click on that icon a window called RT28701 opens up,then you click on Wireless Information tab, then you cursor down to the name ofyour WiFi and high light it and click the connect box. The red X indicates that it is NOTconnected. It is looking for apassword (WiFi Network Key) You have to double click on the little computericon down in the right tool bar area, the one with the two side radiating arcs, and possibly has a small red X under it.

Do you use your netbook for mainly light stuff like internet and word processing? I would suggest going with a Linux OS like Ubuntu, it runs very fast on light resources and you can load everything you need, and for free. Windows CE is actually what is used on PDA's and Phones and isnt ideal for a mini laptop or netbook. I will post the exact instructions below. There are supposedly ways to do it, but they require using TCPMP like you said.
